Walking on Water

A gentle poetry walk: this reflective walking workshop offers brief creative exercises to stimulate creative writing, with a selection of poems about the river read on route. We will be connecting our creativity to the Dartington estate grounds by following the river a short way, and experience the joy of physical connection with the moving body of water as it winds its way towards the sea, its vital energy.

We will walk, listen and consider as we walk how the river runs through our language, our stories, our poetry and our dreams, whilst also pausing to write our own words and note our experiences along the way.

1 hour – bring sturdy shoes, appropriate clothes (we are outside for the duration), pen and paper, and something to sit on.

Sarah Acton is the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site poet- in-residence, a massive three year poetry project exploring her relationship with the 95 miles of Jurassic coastline and its natural history. Sarah also creates participatory poetry events under the name Black Ven, including site-specific walks and workshops that invite participants into an active and enquiring relationship between their poetry and the land.
