STAFF ASSOCIATE I, ADVISING AND NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION, Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC)-Office of the First Year (OFY), to develop, implement, and assess programs that are designed to facilitate the academic success, community engagement, social adjustment, and assimilation to the Institute for first-year students. Characteristic program areas include the management and coordination of orientation programs, specifically the First-Year Pre-Orientation Programs (FPOPs); learning strategies programming; training for orientation leaders; and major exploration programming. Responsibilities include advising and working collaboratively with teams of students to design and implement programs that support student academic success and social adjustment; working with MIT Alumni Relations on coordinating specific aspects of parent orientation; contributing to the accomplishment of the overall goals, objectives, and direction of the Office of the First Year and Undergraduate Advising Center; serving as a first-year advisor, a secondary advisor to upper-level students, and a consultant to faculty advisors;and coordinating OFY social media, SLACK, and web page maintenance. The position involves extensive student contact.

Must be able to multitask, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic, high-energy, and ever-changing environment. PREFERRED: master’s degree, familiarity with the undergraduate academic environment, experience developing and offering programming, and experience with large event planning and graphic arts website development and maintenance.
