Aquarist - Part Time - Sharks

Position Summary:

Our Aquarist I will work with a diverse team of other Aquarists in the daily husbandry for multi taxa habitats for the facility with a focus on the Shark exhibit. Will be responsible for implementing the daily operational requirements for the exhibit as well as staffing the Shark and Ray Immersion Program.  In addition, will work with the shark team in achieving goals and participating in staff education, training, and safety planning, as well as meeting personal and team goals and objectives.



  1. Implements the zoological goals and standards for the Shark exhibit and other areas of responsibility
  2. Implements the daily operational requirements of the staff, animals and area of responsibility
  3. Participates in training, development and review process for individual development and enrichment
  4. Work with the Shark team to maintain the highest quality staff and exhibits
  5. Provide high quality guest engagement during execution of the Shark and Ray Immersion Program
  6. Interface effectively with other departments to maintain the highest quality standards
  7. Fosters working relationships with other institutions
  8. As needed, interact on behalf of the Georgia Aquarium with guests, media, general public, etc.
  9. Implement dive safety guidelines established by the dive safety officer
  10. To perform other duties as workload necessitates.     



  1. Preferred, four year degree in biology or related field
  2. Preferred an internship or 6 months work experience in an AZA accredited institution, or equivalent, working with aquatic animals and associated husbandry and life support.
  3. Strong public speaking skills  
  4. SCUBA Certification preferred
  5. Valid passport, or the ability to obtain one
  6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
