A day in the life

The Team Leader of Claims and Service (BlueCard) is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the BlueCard department directing workflow and monitoring workload to ensure claims are processed and/or customer inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately. This role provides expertise and guidance to create a positive customer experience and ensures work objectives are completed in compliance with regulations and organizational standards.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Directly supervises and guides employees in accomplishing work objectives within the department. Coaches, motivates, and recognizes employees. Sets clear goals and objectives and performance expectations and holds employees accountable for achieving results.
  • Monitors phone calls or other client interactions and provides feedback.
  • Creates and distributes documented resolutions for common claims and customer service issues.
  • Sets and evaluates achievement of goals and objectives to improve department training, performance, metrics, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures team members are meeting service-level agreements, quality assurance, and productivity expectations.
  • Provides direction for the development of new programs, methods, processes, and enhancements. Guides new, changed, or enhanced processes to ensure expected results are achieved.
  • Analyzes department-related metrics to develop staff schedules and uses historical data to predict workloads to recommend staffing plans.
  • Communicates system-related issues to appropriate stakeholders, as needed.
  • Researches and seeks innovative ways for process improvements and problem resolution.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and provides management with data, status reports, and progress updates.
  • Assists with training employeesin support policies and procedures.
  • Leads, facilitates, and/or participates on committees, strategy meetings, special projects or corporate initiatives and programs.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience related to the role. 1 year of leadership experience is also preferred!
  • Ability to apply knowledge and expertise in order to utilize and understand systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Possesses strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to resolve problems, make suggestions and implement process improvements.
  • Uses experience, expertise and influence to maintain an effective team.

Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards
