Part-Time Library Assistant at Collister Library Branch:
Provides assistance to library users with circulation, reference and readers' advisory services. Assists the public in a variety of areas (e.g., answering reference questions, locating materials, checking out books and providing technical information regarding computers and self-check machines, providing directions, etc.). (40%)
Issues library cards to new users and maintains accurate user registration records. Researches user account information and resolves customer concerns tactfully. Explains and monitors compliance with library policies and procedures. Schedules study and meeting rooms for internal and public use. (20%)
Creates displays to promote programs, library services and materials. Sets up and cleans after programs and events. (10%)
Assists and supports division with various projects. May assist in outreach programs for users of all ages. (10%)
Checks in returned materials using library computer systems. Maintains library collections through various circulation tasks. (10%)
Performs proper library opening and closing procedures. (10%)

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
High school diploma or equivalent and customer service experience.
Knowledge of customer service techniques and basic computer skills. Ability to learn and use library systems work independently and use initiative while performing duties within established guidelines and procedures multitask and perform a broad range of administrative tasks exercise tact, patience, diplomacy, cultural sensitivity, and courtesy when dealing with users troubleshooting and problem-solve communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
One year of work experience in a public library or similar environment providing customer service to a diverse clientele.
