This position is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position is the Bay Area District Office, 845 Casa Grande Road, Petaluma, CA. 94954, but may be required to work in other areas and parks within the Bay Area District. This position will work under the supervision of the Bay Area District Trail Program Park Maintenance Chief I.

The Skilled Laborer performs miscellaneous skilled labor and acts as the technical lead/supervisor for work crews which can include California Conservation Corps (CCC), American Conservation Experience (ACE), Cal-Fire, and other local and volunteer work crews performing similar or lower-level work. This position will frequently work from remote locations to efficiently complete task assignments. The Skilled Laborer provides support primarily to conservation labor crews performing projects within the district. The position may assist in more technical facility maintenance projects under the direction of a higher skilled maintenance worker. This position will provide leadership to the other staff within the department and conservation labor crews in trail maintenance, campground rehabilitation, and other facilities and resource activities as scheduled. The position is required to work nights, weekends, odd hours, and overtime in accomplishment of assigned tasks. This position may also spike camp at work sites within the district as needed to accomplish projects.

This position is currently eligible for a Recruitment and Retention pay differential for the Greater Bay Area. This pay differential is five percent (5%) of the base pay for each qualifying pay period and is in addition to the posted monthly salary range.

Work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Must possess a valid class “C” California Driver’s License.
