Zookeeping Faculty

This is a full-time, faculty position in the Zookeeping program a Pikes Peak State College. This position may require working in virtual, weekend, evening, or various campus locations.  Successful candidate must be willing to teach concurrent enrollment both on PPSC campuses and in local area high schools.  For full consideration, all application materials must be received by 4:00pm on June 7, 2024. Applicant must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to first date of employment. All work must be performed in the State of Colorado. 

Experience Required

Minimum Qualifications Completed Associate’s degree in zookeeping or a related field with 4,000 verified occupational/industry hours within the last seven years, OR completed Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field with 2,000 verified occupational/industry hours within the last seven years. Related fields include: Zoology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Wildlife and Fisheries Biology/Science/Management, Natural Resources, Evolutionary Biology, Animal Science, Conservation Biology, Marine Biology One year of professional animal husbandry experience. Possess or be eligible to obtain a Colorado Career and Technical Education Teaching Credential Demonstrated ability to work with underrepresented populations in successful efforts to close the achievement gap. Preferred Qualifications Two years of post-secondary teaching experience. Experience working with industry professionals and familiarity with assisting students transitioning into the workforce. Evidence of positive working relationships with AZA accredited facilities and/or conservation initiatives. Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish.
