We're looking for someone to join our Design team as an Associate Brand Designer with experience in building brands and a productive output. This role will report to Collin Cummings, Lead Brand Designer. Although we have office locations in Portland, OR, New York City, and London, UK, we are open to this role being completely remote anywhere in the US.

You will be responsible for:

  • Helping take new brand directions and strategies and apply them to our various expressions and visual language.
  • Building presentations, web pages, marketing collateral, internal creative work, and pushing beyond as we explore more profound ways to express the brand.
  • Bringing constructive and articulate brand thinking to teams cross-functionally.
  • Contributing to brand development beyond visuals, considering messaging and presence throughout all brand-focused initiatives.
  • Provide clear, objective, and constructive critiques of creative work.
  • A productive creative process from sketch to execution. We want to avoid going straight to Figma, Illustrator, etc.
  • Sensitivity to principles of art and composition.

Who you are:

  • A designer with 1-3 years of experience and a broad focus on building brands.
  • A productive designer with a robust portfolio showing a diverse body of visual work.
  • A conceptual thinker with a strong ideation and iteration process and a distinct affinity for storytelling and visual narrative.
  • A flexible collaborator who is able to thrive in a fully remote and async work environment.
  • Illustration is a big part of our work, so we need someone who can play with thisand grow in this skill.
  • Should have strong design skills in typography and layout.
  • Good conceptual thinking and implementation skills. This should lean toward narrative and editorial work that can support and elevate our content.
  • Comfort and ease working frequently with a marketing team.
  • Given this is a small creative team, you should be open to receiving feedback and critique.
  • Strong tendency to try, fail, iterate, and learn. We like messiness.
  • Strong communication skills that complement a fully distributed and asynchronous team is a must.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience:

  • 1-3 years of productive brand-focused design work.
  • A clear understanding of core design and brand concepts.
  • Proficient with Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Bonus: Proficiency in motion design, brand strategy, and data visualization.
