SCOPE OF WORK:

The Virtual CFO role is a new and essential role for ITSMF. This is a fractional, independent contractor position and reports directly to the CEO. The ideal vendor will be an expert at leading finance and accounting departments and providing financial guidance and strategic planning. This scope of work will include performing functions such as forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, financial risk management, investment oversight and oversight of deliverables produced by a staff accountant. The Virtual CFO will also be responsible for creating and implementing policies, strategies and financial controls ensuring that ITSMF’s financial strategy aligns and supports the organization’s strategic plan. The Virtual CRO role is critical to strategic growth and requires interacting with all leadership levels throughout ITSMF, including the Board of Directors. The role is delivered remotely with no in-office requirements, except for quarterly team meetings, bi- annual leadership forums and symposiums. This position does not include benefits.

Specific activities include:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and plans to ensure ITSMF’s long-term growth and financial health
  • Recommend strategies to achieve the organization’s financial goals
  • Identify new opportunities, analyze potential risks, and provide recommendations for sustainable revenue generation and spending controls
  • Manage financial performance using expert budgeting and forecasting methodologies and track actual results against those predictions
  • Identify financial opportunities for ITSMF to take advantage of, including investments
  • Manage cash flow and cash flow projections. Develop strategies to ensure healthy cash balances
  • Analyze financial statements and provide forward-thinking strategies for meeting revenue and spending targets
  • Make presentations to the Board of Directors regarding financial planning and performance against plans
  • Analyze internal processes and controls and make recommendations for improvement. Manage compliance with internal controls
  • Actively manage financial risk for ITSMF through the continuous monitoring of risk, while recommending and implementing risk mitigation solutions
  • Assist with preparing for the annual audit
  • Attend up to four hours of meetings per month with VPs and the Board of Directors to present financial reports and analysis

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years’ experience directly managing or providing management consulting for financial departments and finance operations in a non-profit environment is critical to success in this role
  • 7 years’ experience managing or providing consulting services for Accounting and Finance teams at the Executive level
  • Expert proficiency with Quickbooks financial software
  • Expert Proficiency with bill.com
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Share Point
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage effectively with senior executive team and co-workers
  • Proven track record of developing budgets, creating processes to manage spending and implementing internal financial controls.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and data integrity
  • Proven track-record of producing high-quality deliverables
  • Contractor’s team members assigned to this contract must be proficient at change management, particularly in remote environments, working with persons in various levels of leadership. They must also possess strong organizational skills that reflect their ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, adapt to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of client service and response
  • Proven ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced virtual environment
  • Review investments and work with investment bank that investment portfolio is structured to optimize returns
