Sous Chef

We are seeking a dynamic Sous Chef with expertise in catering to diverse palates and managing culinary operations for events ranging from large groups to festive picnics and private events. As a Sous Chef specializing in culinary events, you will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the successful execution of unique and memorable dining experiences within the zoo premises.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to plan and create menus tailored for large groups, picnics, and events.
  • Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals for special events and gatherings.
  • Manage and lead the kitchen team during events to ensure seamless execution.
  • Coordinate with event planners and zoo staff to understand specific dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, especially in high-volume food production.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff to deliver exceptional service during events.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers for timely deliveries.
  • Contribute creative ideas for themed events and innovative culinary offerings.
  • Assist in the development of cost-effective recipes suitable for large-scale events.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in catering for large groups or events.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creativity and adaptability in designing menus for diverse occasions.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with event planners and zoo staff.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team to achieve culinary excellence.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required for events.
