Job Description SUMMARY The combination of biotechnological and computational advances over the past decade has substantially augmented our ability to create high-performance methods, thereby driving discovery and development of transformative medical breakthroughs. While this accelerated pace of methods development offers great promise, the rapid expansion of novel techniques gives rise to new challenges in effective adoption and implementation. To capitalize on these exciting advances, the Broad Institute has formed the Methods Development Lab (MDL), with the mission of identifying high-value scientific frontiers and generating high-performance end-to-end approaches to enable the research community. The MDL is an organized and interdisciplinary team of researchers working in a coordinated fashion to develop effective molecular and computational methods. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to drive the development of single-cell and spatial sequencing technologies. A core research aim at the MDL is to catalyze a transformational shift in single-cell sequencing capabilities, making 1 million cell experiments routine and 1 billion cell flagship projects possible. A key developmental priority will center around development of highly impactful assays that take advantage of this immense scale. In addition to scale, we have a strong research emphasis on creating advanced library construction techniques that increase capture efficiency and enable multimodal measurements. Much of this work is enabled by bringing industry partners together, achieving new capabilities through shared ambitious goals. The Postdoctoral Associate will play a key role executing on project plans and fostering strong and productive collaborative partnerships. In addition to methods development, Postdoctoral Associate will drive application of these novel methods at the Broad Institute and work closely with Broad Clinical Lab’s production teams to translate novel methods into production scale processes to make them available to the community.
