Responsibilities:

The Associate role at SVB is a developmental position for a career path as a commercial banker. As an Associate, you would have the opportunity to work with senior bankers, lending teams and assist in the analysis, underwriting, and booking of client relationships. This includes analyzing financial statements, collateral values, and business strengths and risks. You will also facilitate the loan booking process and assure credit files comply with SVB policies and procedures.

SVB's Associates receive programmatic and thorough commercial banking training from senior bankers in underwriting, portfolio management, and sales strategy, all while learning about and working within the world-renowned US premium wine industry.

JOB LEVEL: You will assist in the credit underwriting process, and portfolio management, perform due diligence on potential clients by spreading and analyzing their financial statements, and aid in the loan documentation and booking processes. You will become familiar with and work with a variety of products and divisions within the bank, and assist client-facing account officers with client inquiries.

JOB COMPLEXITY: You will handle a variety of routine credit underwriting and documentation responsibilities, review client accounts for regulatory compliance, inspect loan status, process loan advances for assigned accounts, and work with designated client contacts to resolve routine compliance-related inquiries.

SUPERVISION: Reports and works under direction of the team’s Managing Director, supported by the team Vice President(s). Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience in accounting, finance, or banking Or high school diploma or GED with 5 years of experience in accounting, finance or banking.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Finance and Accounting degree
  • Strong communication and business writing skills
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and self-awareness
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Word and Excel.
  • Interest and/or experience in the Premium Wine Industry is a plus
