The perfect job to make your entry into animal education! The ZooMontana Educator position develops formal, informal, and interpretive educational programs and materials; as well as coordinates and facilitates educational programs. Additionally, this position actively participates in animal handling and supports the development of ZooMontana’s Ambassador Animal program. This is fulltime, benefitted position.
Applicants with an undergraduate degree in a life science, or the equivalent in experience preferred. Relevant professional experience in an zoological education department, nature center, or other informal learning center is ideal. Strong public speaking skills and the ability to improvise are a must. Applicant must possess both strong team and individual work skills.
• Must be able to work on weekends, holidays, and occasional evening events/programs. • Must be willing to adapt to unexpected program changes. • Must be willing to utilize technology within educational programming including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office programs, video editing technology, video conferencing technology, and more. • Maintain clean driving record for safe operation of zoo vehicles and possess and maintain a state of Montana driver’s license. • Must have excellent interpretation skills, be comfortable with public speaking, and be able to improvise when needed. • Must be willing to handle ambassador animals. • Must be able to work with all members of the public. • Must be willing to clean and care for animals when needed. • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. • Must be able to lift 30 pounds. • Must be able to withstand typical Montana climate.
