Marketing, Events and Membership Summer Intern

Reports to: Director of Marketing and Events and Membership Director
The Zoological Society of New Jersey, Inc. was started in 1973. Its purpose is to promote the general welfare of Essex County Turtle Back Zoo, a facility of the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs; to stimulate the public's interest in the growth, improvement, and development of Essex County Turtle Back Zoo.

What You'll be Doing:
The Marketing, Events and Membership Summer Intern will support several key projects across
the event planning, marketing and membership departments. We are looking for an individual
that is available starting as soon as possible.
Key responsibilities include:
Event planning:
- Help plan, prepare and execute our upcoming events which include

● Casino Night – May 18
● Brew at the Zoo – June 29
● Zoo Pride – June 15
● Fundraiser – July 19 and more.
- Create and manage guest lists and rsvp lists.
- Assist with securing vendors for events.
- Solicit and organize in-kind donation for auctions and raffles.
- Plan to be on site for event set up, program and breakdown.
Marketing:
- Draft messaging for social media and email correspondence shared with members and
prospects.
- Draft messaging for event attendees leading up to the event and post-event.
- Assist with writing blogs; internal and external content and newsletters.
Membership/Development:
- Assist membership team as needed with on-site member experience services and
correspondence.
- Other duties as assigned.

Schedule:
● 2-3 days a week
● Schedule fluctuates

Experience Required

WHO YOU ARE/ESSENTIAL SKILLS: - Willing to work as a team member. - Available to work 10-20 various hours a week. - Experience in or passion for membership services and event planning. - Experience in or passion for marketing including print and social media. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Self-starter - Must be creative, detail oriented, action oriented and results focused. - Solid time management and prioritization skills. Experience: ● Marketing: 1 year (Preferred)
